2023 Cremation Symposium | Toronto (Mississauga/Meadowvale)
Your First Step Towards Certification!
This is the only recognized course for the certification of crematorium operators in the province of Ontario. This program will ensure you have the necessary training required under the FBCSA. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the cremation process, consumer protection for cremation clients, and best service practices and standards. This program is open to anyone involved with any aspect of the cremation process including counsellors, funeral directors, full and part-time operators and owners. This program is the first phase towards operator certification. Full certification (Ontario) will be granted upon successful completion of the self-administered exam AND verification that the participant has completed fifty (50) cremation cases (second phase), for which participants have one full year from the date of the program to complete. The OACFP recommends that anyone who has not attended a crematorium training program within the last five years should attend.
Poul LemastersGeneral Counsel | ICCFA
Poul began his career in deathcare more than 20 years ago as a funeral director and embalmer. He quickly recognized that the growing risk and liability in deathcare along with the lack of support and resources for those in this profession made for a deadly combination. So, he decided to go to law school—and he passed!
Today, Poul uses his unique background in both deathcare and law to provide resources and counsel to other deathcare professionals. He gets calls for assistance in risk management, daily operational conflicts, form and contract reviews, valuations, and regulatory matters. Basically, all the exciting issues our profession has to offer. Poul advises several funeral home, crematory, cemetery, and trade associations across the United States. He also shares his know-how with those in the field by serving as General Counsel and Advisor for ICCFA and is integral in the development of the Educational Programs.
You’re always welcome to call Poul to learn about proactive prevention for your business, or for some reactive counseling after you get sued.
